Our Beliefs | Evolutio Sports Physio Richmond
A clinic without beliefs is a rudderless boat.
We stand for a lot more than excellent physiotherapy. We want to set an example for our patients, our families, and the next generation of practitioners who work here.
What we stand for
More than just physio.
We founded Evolutio in 2013 because we believed physiotherapy could be done differently. More personally, more honestly, and with more genuine care for the world beyond the treatment room.
We believe that how we show up in our community, on our land, and for our planet is as important as how we show up for each patient. These aren't talking points. They're things we've been doing quietly since before anyone asked.
"The existence of a place whether that be a clinic like ours, a family, a community or a taco stand without beliefs and a vision is like a rudderless boat."inspired by Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
The Planet
Australia's only physio clinic to offset its carbon emissions.
In December 2021, we worked with Greenfleet to plant a milestone forest at Pearsons in Central Victoria. This donation revegetates 0.1 hectares of land and will be protected for 100 years.
At Pearsons, Greenfleet is working with the traditional custodians of the land, the DjaDja Wurrung people, to revegetate the property with native trees and grasses. It's a project that combines environmental action with deep respect for Country. That felt right.
As far as we know, we remain the only physiotherapy clinic in Australia to take this step. We'd genuinely love to be wrong about that. But until other clinics follow, we'll hold it with some quiet pride.
The Pearsons forest is planted on Country belonging to the DjaDja Wurrung people, in genuine partnership with them. Not just geographically near them. That distinction matters to us.
11/3 Bromham Place, Richmond. A clinic with a conscience.
Green Card
Green Card
We reward you for choosing the planet.
We're not going to ask you to be more sustainable without doing something ourselves. The Green Card is our loyalty programme. Instead of rewarding spend, it rewards how you get here.
No expiry. No app. No fine print beyond get here without burning petrol. If cycling to appointments helps get ten Richmond residents out of their cars each year, that's worth something to us. Even if it costs us a session.
Acknowledgment of Country
We work on land that was never ceded.
The Evolutio team acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which our clinic is situated. This land belongs and always will belong to the Woiwurrung and Boonwurrung peoples, who speak the traditional Indigenous languages of Woiwurring and Daungwurrung.
This isn't a formality we recite once and forget. We say it at team meetings. We try to learn about it. And we try to earn the right to mean it.
That means learning about history that wasn't in our textbooks. Sitting with the discomfort of privilege. Understanding what it means to have had the opportunity to study at university, to open a clinic, to work on this land. We won't always get it right. But we won't stop trying.
"The Evolutio team acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which our clinic is situated. This land belongs and always will belong to the Woiwurrung and Boonwurrung peoples, who speak the traditional Indigenous languages of Woiwurring and Daungwurrung."
We are committed to learning about Indigenous history, understanding our privilege, and creating space for education and vulnerability.
Learning, not performing
Acknowledgment of Country is not a checkbox. We recite it because we're working toward having earned the right to mean it through ongoing education about First Nations history, culture, and the continuing effects of colonisation.
Understanding privilege
We've had access to university, to professional careers, to this beautiful country. We want to understand how we got here, who got moved to make room for us, and what we owe as a result.
Being vulnerable, not performative
This work is uncomfortable. It should be. We don't do it to look good. We do it because we want the next generation of Evolutio practitioners to understand their responsibilities from day one.
Partnering thoughtfully
Our Greenfleet forest at Pearsons is revegetated in genuine partnership with the DjaDja Wurrung people. Not just geographically near them. That distinction matters to us.
Knowledge & Understanding
We want to learn, educate, and be vulnerable.
There's a concept in The Alchemist about the soul of the world. The idea that paying attention to what's around you is how you find meaning in your work. We think about that a lot.
We set an example for future practitioners
The physios who train here, work alongside us, and eventually open their own clinics. We want them to leave knowing that good clinical practice and ethical responsibility are the same thing, not separate conversations.
We work with people who share our values
Our partnerships with Greenfleet, Ciclo Melbourne, and HomeRun Physio aren't just commercial arrangements. They're relationships with people and organisations who genuinely give a damn about the same things we do.
We make our clinic a place with a soul
The reclaimed timber table we built ourselves. The plants. The indie playlist. The Twisted? mural in the waiting room. The smell of good coffee. None of this is decoration. It's a deliberate statement about what kind of place this is and what kind of people work here.
We stay curious and keep learning
In clinical practice, in environmental responsibility, in understanding of Country. We're not experts in any of these things. But we're not pretending to be, either. We're showing up, doing the reading, and trying.
