What we do differently. In plain language.
More than seven thousand three hundred patients treated since 2013. A 5.0 star Google rating. An independent clinic in Richmond that approaches physiotherapy differently from most. Here is exactly how, and why it matters.
What makes us different
These are not marketing claims. They are structural decisions we made about how to run a clinic, and they are verifiable by anyone who books an appointment. Each one has a reason behind it.
The industry standard for an initial physiotherapy assessment in Melbourne is 30 minutes. Many clinics do 20 to 25 minutes. We give every new patient 45 minutes, across all four of our physiotherapists, with no upcharge for this.
The reason matters: understanding why a back hurts requires understanding how a person moves, trains, sits, and lives. Understanding why a knee keeps getting injured requires examining the hip above and the ankle below. Fifteen extra minutes is not a luxury. It is the difference between finding the cause and guessing at it.
At many Melbourne clinics, particularly franchise and corporate chains, you may see a different practitioner at each visit. This is often presented as flexibility. In practice it means explaining your history repeatedly, losing contextual understanding, and receiving treatment from someone who does not know how you responded last time.
At Evolutio, the physiotherapist who assesses you treats you through to discharge. No handoffs. No delegating your follow-up to a junior. If you booked with Bayden, Bayden is who you see.
After your initial assessment at Evolutio, you receive a detailed email within 48 hours containing your diagnosis, a realistic recovery timeline, your home exercise programme with video links, and what to expect at your next session.
Most patients leave other physio clinics knowing where it hurts. They leave ours knowing why, what will happen next, and what they can do between sessions. That is not a small difference.
We are open Monday to Thursday until 7:30pm. We open at 8am. We are open Saturdays until 1pm. We built these hours deliberately because most of our patients work CBD hours and cannot get to a physio during the day without taking time off work.
Many clinics advertise extended hours but fill most of their late slots with lower-priority appointments. Our practitioners work full clinical days to 7:30pm because the demand from our patient base requires it.
Our practitioners have specific clinical expertise in running, cycling, AFL, CrossFit, Olympic lifting, triathlons, tennis and golf. This is not a claim that every clinic makes. It means our physiotherapists understand training load management, sport-specific injury patterns, competition timelines, and the difference between what an injury looks like in a recreational runner versus an AFL player.
Shirouz is an Ironman 70.3 athlete and Ciclo Melbourne bike fitter. Phill was rehab leader for the Western Bulldogs AFLW. Bayden has been treating runners, cyclists and complex biomechanical cases since 2016. Kelsi brings particular expertise in running-related shoulder and knee injuries. Read full practitioner profiles here.
For complex cases and post-surgical rehabilitation, we use VALD force plate and dynamometry testing to measure limb strength symmetry, power output and functional readiness with objective data. For runners, we use video treadmill analysis at assessment and again at return-to-running to confirm gait corrections are holding.
This means your return to sport or activity is based on measurable data, not a practitioner's subjective assessment of how you seem to be doing. For ACL patients, this is the difference between guessing and knowing when it is safe to return to sport. Read our ACL rehabilitation guide.

Evidence, not claims
From 218 Google reviews, across more than 7,300 patients treated since 2013. We have a clinical outcomes page where we publish our patient data. A 5.0 average is difficult to maintain across that many patients. It is earned one session at a time.
Listed in independent Melbourne media as one of the city's top sports physio clinics. Recognition from sources that do not accept payment for placement.
Partners include Ciclo Melbourne (bike fitting), HomeRun Physio (running), Western Bulldogs AFLW, Richmond Centrals FC, CrossFit CBD and CrossFit Hawthorn East. Relationships built on clinical trust, not commercial arrangements.
How to choose a physio in Melbourne
The most common reason people end up at Evolutio is that they tried somewhere else first and it didn't work. Not because they were treated badly, but because they were treated quickly: a 20-minute assessment, a generic exercise programme, and a follow-up with someone who hadn't read their notes.
Choosing a physio clinic is a consequential decision. A good one solves your problem. A poor one manages it at best, or prolongs it at worst. The following criteria are worth applying to any clinic you are considering, including this one.
The Australian Physiotherapy Association provides a practitioner search tool where you can verify AHPRA registration. All four of Evolutio's physiotherapists are registered with AHPRA and are APA members.
What to look for
Red flags to watch for
Is Evolutio right for you?
We are not the right fit for everyone. Being honest about who we serve well helps both parties avoid wasting time.
We understand training load, sport-specific biomechanics and competition timelines. We use video gait analysis, work with Ciclo Melbourne on bike cases, and know when to keep you training and when to modify. Running physio and cycling physio are core to our caseload.
Contact sport injuries, ACL rehabilitation, Olympic lifting back and shoulder injuries, CrossFit conditioning. Phill Danzi's background with the Western Bulldogs AFLW and CrossFit coaching gives us depth here that most clinics cannot match. AFL physio and CrossFit physio.
If you have seen multiple practitioners without resolving your injury, you are one of our most common presentations. The 45-minute assessment specifically exists to find what shorter assessments have missed. We do not offer reassurance. We offer answers.
The combination of eight desk hours and hard training produces predictable injury patterns. We treat the full picture: how your desk affects your training and how your training affects your back. We also have evening hours specifically because you do not want to leave work early. CBD professional approach.
We do not offer bulk billing. Our initial assessments are $185 to $235 depending on which practitioner you choose. For patients who need Medicare-funded physiotherapy, we can help you understand your options including EPC plans with a GP referral. See full pricing.
We focus on rehabilitation that empowers you to manage your injury with less dependence on passive treatment over time. If you are looking for twice-weekly massage without a rehabilitation plan attached, we are probably not the right fit. Our approach is designed to reduce treatment frequency as you improve.

The six structural differences are described in detail above, but the summary is: 45-minute initial assessments (not 30), same physio every session (no rotating roster), written diagnosis and plan within 48 hours of your first appointment, clinic hours to 7:30pm weekdays, genuine sport-specific expertise across all practitioners, and objective outcome measurement using VALD and video gait analysis. These are not marketing claims. They are verifiable at your first session.
Initial appointments are $185 to $235 depending on which practitioner you choose, which is above the average for Melbourne physio clinics. We do not offer bulk billing. We do not compromise on assessment time or continuity of care to lower our price point. If you have private health insurance, HICAPS processes rebates on the spot. If you need Medicare-funded physiotherapy, an Enhanced Primary Care plan from your GP provides a rebate. We are transparent about our pricing at evolutio.com.au/physiotherapy-prices.
Yes. Our reputation is built around sports physiotherapy, but the majority of the 7,300+ patients we have treated are recreational exercisers, active professionals, and everyday people who want their pain resolved properly rather than managed indefinitely. The 45-minute assessment approach and continuity of care benefits everyone. Many of our most common presentations are lower back pain and neck pain in desk workers, running injuries in people who jog three times a week, and knee pain in people who play social sport on weekends.
The most important factors in order: assessment duration of at least 45 minutes, continuity of care with the same practitioner, a clear written diagnosis and plan after your first session, evidence-based treatment that includes active rehabilitation not just passive therapy, and sport or activity-specific expertise if relevant to your injury. Verify AHPRA registration at ahpra.gov.au. Be wary of clinics that rotate you between practitioners, provide no clear diagnosis, or rely primarily on passive treatments like heat and massage without a rehabilitation programme.
The evidence we can point to: a 5.0 star Google rating from 218 reviews, more than 7,300 patients treated since 2013, independent media recognition from Just Melbourne and our own published clinic rankings, recognition in the Top 10 Physiotherapists Melbourne 2026 list, clinical partnerships with the Western Bulldogs AFLW and Ciclo Melbourne, and our published clinical outcomes page. We would also say: the best evidence is booking an initial assessment and experiencing it directly. The difference from a 30-minute appointment is immediately apparent.
No referral is needed for standard appointments. Book directly at evolutio.com.au/book-in, by phone on 03 9100 3798, or by WhatsApp on +61 430 436 531. A GP referral is only required for Medicare EPC rebates, WorkCover claims or TAC claims.
We have four practitioners with meaningfully different areas of strength, and our team page describes each one honestly so you can make an informed choice before booking. If after your first session you feel another practitioner would be a better clinical fit for your condition, please tell us and we will facilitate a handover. This is rare but it happens, and we would rather get you the right fit than keep you with the wrong one.
