WHY WE'RE TRANSPARENT

Healthcare shouldn't be a black box where you don't know what you're paying or whether treatment actually works. Every person who walks through our doors deserves to understand their investment and what they can realistically expect.

Our Commitment to You

Since founding Evolutio in 2013, we've operated on a simple principle: treat people the way we'd want to be treated ourselves. That means:

  • No hidden costs - You know exactly what you'll pay before you book

  • Real outcomes data - Not cherry-picked success stories, but actual patient statistics

  • Honest timelines - We tell you how long recovery really takes, not what you want to hear

  • Same physiotherapist throughout - You won't be passed between practitioners

  • 48-hour follow-up - Detailed treatment plan emailed within two days of your assessment

INSURANCE & REBATES: AUSTRALIAN HEALTH FUND GUIDE {#insurance}

Private Health Insurance Coverage

We're registered providers with every major Australian health fund. Your rebate depends on your level of extras cover. Here's what patients actually pay out-of-pocket:

Coverage LevelOut-of-Pocket Per SessionWhat You Get BackBasic Extras$60-90$35-65 rebateMid-Tier Extras$40-65$60-85 rebateTop-Tier Hospital + Extras$20-40$85-110 rebate

Specific Health Fund Examples (2025 data):

  • Medibank Extras 150: ~$50-60 gap per session

  • Bupa Top Hospital + Extras: ~$45-55 gap per session

  • HCF Ultimate Extras: ~$40-50 gap per session

  • NIB Top Extras Cover: ~$60-70 gap per session

  • Teachers Health Top Extras: ~$35-50 gap per session

Health funds we work with: Bupa, Medibank, HCF, NIB, Australian Unity, Teachers Health, Police Health, HBF, GMHBA, Defence Health, and 20+ others.

How It Works: Bring your health fund card to your appointment. We process claims instantly through HICAPS. You pay only the gap amount on the spot—no waiting weeks for reimbursement or filling out claim forms.

Medicare & Chronic Disease Management

Medicare doesn't cover standard physiotherapy, but you can access subsidized sessions if you have a chronic condition.

Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) or Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plans:

  • Your GP refers you for up to 5 subsidized physio sessions per calendar year

  • Medicare rebates $59.90 per session

  • Your out-of-pocket cost: $30-65 depending on session type

  • Not everyone qualifies—discuss with your GP first

Common qualifying conditions: Chronic back pain, arthritis, persistent sports injuries, post-surgical ongoing management, chronic shoulder/knee problems.

DVA (Department of Veterans' Affairs)

Gold Card holders: Bulk-billed for approved conditions—zero out-of-pocket costs

White Card holders: Coverage for approved service-related conditions with GP referral

Our team has extensive experience with DVA protocols and claims processing. We handle all the paperwork.

WorkCover Victoria

Zero out-of-pocket costs for approved workplace injuries. We bill your insurer directly.

What you need:

  • WorkCover claim number

  • Case manager details (if assigned)

Gap payments: We require small gap payments ($40-50) because WorkCover rates don't cover our extended session times. This ensures you still get our 45-minute initial assessments and 30-minute follow-ups, not rushed 15-minute appointments.

TAC (Transport Accident Commission)

For injuries from motor vehicle accidents.

Gap payments:

  • Initial assessment: $86.13 gap

  • Follow-up sessions: $47.29 gap

Why gaps? TAC rates don't cover our full session times. We prioritize quality care with proper assessment time over high-volume short appointments.

No Insurance? Payment Options

We offer:

  • Payment plans for longer treatment courses—spread costs across pay cycles

  • Discounted packages when you book multiple sessions upfront (5% discount for 5-session package)

  • Flexible scheduling to align with your pay schedule

  • Honest conversations about what you can afford—we'll work with you

Contact our team to discuss options that work for your situation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General Costs & Pricing

How much does a physio consultation cost in Melbourne?

Initial assessments at Evolutio are $175 for a comprehensive 45-minute appointment (industry standard is 30 minutes). Follow-up sessions cost $125 for 30-45 minutes of treatment.

With private health insurance, most patients pay $50-90 out-of-pocket depending on their cover level. We process claims instantly through HICAPS.

Why are your prices higher than some clinics?

We spend 45 minutes on initial assessments (vs. 30 minutes elsewhere). You get the same physiotherapist every session. Within 48 hours, you receive a detailed email with your diagnosis, treatment plan, video exercises, and recovery timeline. Quality over volume.

Do you offer discounts or packages?

Yes—5% discount when you book a 5-session package upfront. Payment plans available for longer treatment courses. Green Card loyalty program: every 10 visits using clean transport (cycling, walking, running) earns you a free session.

Insurance & Rebates

Do you bulk bill for physiotherapy?

We bulk bill DVA Gold Card holders for approved conditions. For other patients, we don't bulk bill but we process private health insurance claims instantly through HICAPS.

Medicare rebates are available if your GP refers you under a Chronic Disease Management plan—you'd get $59.90 back per session.

What insurance do you accept?

All of them. We're registered with every major Australian health fund including Bupa, Medibank, HCF, NIB, Australian Unity, Teachers Health, Police Health, HBF, GMHBA, Defence Health, and 20+ others.

Bring your card and we'll process your rebate on the spot. You pay only the gap amount.

Can I claim physiotherapy on Medicare?

Medicare doesn't cover standard physio appointments. However, if you have a chronic condition and your GP writes you an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) or Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, you can get up to 5 subsidized sessions per calendar year.

The rebate is $59.90 per session. Ask your GP if you might qualify.

How much will I pay with my specific health fund?

It depends on your extras cover level:

  • Basic extras: $60-90 gap per session

  • Mid-tier extras: $40-65 gap

  • Top-tier extras: $20-40 gap

Call us with your fund name and membership number—we can give you an exact estimate before you book.

Treatment & Outcomes

How many physio sessions will I need?

Depends entirely on your condition:

  • Acute injuries (rolled ankle): 2-4 sessions

  • Common sports injuries (runner's knee): 6-8 sessions

  • Chronic issues (long-term back pain): 10-16 sessions

  • Post-surgical rehab (ACL): 20-30 sessions over 12 months

We give you an honest estimate at your first appointment. Most people see significant improvement within 6-8 weeks.

What's your success rate for [my condition]?

See our detailed outcomes by condition in the Patient Outcomes section:

  • Running injuries: 89% return to running

  • Cycling injuries: 94% pain-free

  • CrossFit/HIIT: 91% return stronger

  • Lower back pain: 73% return to normal activities within 4 weeks

  • Shoulder injuries: 81% achieve goals within 8 weeks

How long until I see results from physiotherapy?

Most people notice some improvement within 2-3 sessions, but meaningful change typically happens around the 4-6 week mark.

Acute problems respond faster than chronic issues that have been brewing for months. Home exercise compliance dramatically impacts outcomes—85% success rate with exercises vs. 52% without.

What happens if treatment isn't working?

We reassess your progress every 2-3 sessions. If you're not improving as expected, we:

  1. Modify the treatment approach

  2. Consider whether imaging is needed

  3. Refer to sports doctors or specialists if required

  4. Provide honest feedback about whether physio is the right approach

Sometimes you need injections, surgery, or different therapy. We're upfront about that.

Booking & Access

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No—you can book directly without a referral for standard appointments.

You only need a GP referral if you want to access Medicare rebates under a Chronic Disease Management plan, or if claiming through WorkCover or certain insurance schemes.

How soon can I get an appointment?

Usually within 2-3 days for routine bookings. We hold same-day or next-day spots for acute injuries.

Call us on 03 9100 3798 rather than booking online if you need something urgently.

Can I book online or do I need to call?

Book online 24/7 - shows real-time availability and lets you choose your preferred physiotherapist.

Alternative booking methods:

Sports & Activity Questions

Do you treat both recreational and elite athletes?

Absolutely. Our client range:

  • Weekend park runners to Melbourne Marathon competitors

  • Social cyclists to professional teams

  • First-time CrossFitters to regional competitors

  • AFL club athletes to Sunday social players

Treatment quality doesn't change based on your level—we tailor approach based on your goals.

Can you help prevent injuries, not just treat them?

Prevention is our favorite work:

  • Movement screening to spot problems early

  • Strength and conditioning programs

  • Biomechanical analysis for efficiency

  • Load management strategies

  • Pre-season screening for teams and individuals

Many clients come quarterly for "performance MOTs" even when healthy.

Do you provide specialized services for cycling?

Yes—we handle most cycling injuries in-house. For complex bike positioning, we partner with Ciclo Melbourne.

94% of our cycling patients return to pain-free riding within 6-10 weeks.

Clinical Details

What treatment techniques do you use?

Evidence-based, hands-on approach:

  • Manual therapy (joint mobilization, soft tissue work)

  • Dry needling for trigger points and muscle tension

  • Exercise prescription specific to your sport

  • Movement analysis and retraining

  • Load management and training planning

  • VALD equipment for objective strength testing

We combine approaches rather than relying on just one technique.

Will I see the same physiotherapist every time?

Yes—same physio from start to finish. No re-explaining your story. They get to know your body, goals, and how you respond to treatment.

For our members, you can even WhatsApp your specific physio between appointments.

Do you provide exercise programs I can do at home?

Within 48 hours of your first appointment, you receive:

  • Detailed email with diagnosis and plan

  • Video demonstrations of exercises

  • Week-by-week recovery timeline

  • Expected return-to-activity milestones

Programs are updated regularly as you progress. We make you as independent as possible while getting best results.

Specific Populations

Do you treat WorkCover patients?

Absolutely. We've been handling WorkCover claims for years. You won't pay the full amount out-of-pocket for approved workplace injuries—small gap fees apply ($40-50) because WorkCover rates don't cover our extended session times.

Bring your WorkCover claim number to your first appointment.

Can I use my private health insurance for telehealth appointments?

Most health funds cover telehealth physio consultations the same way they cover in-person visits, but check your specific policy.

Our telehealth sessions cost $100, and typical insurance gap is $40-60.

What if my condition is really complex?

We see plenty of complicated cases—multiple areas involved, previous failed treatment, post-surgical complications. We often schedule longer initial assessments (60 minutes) for complex situations.

Our physios regularly collaborate with:

  • Sports medicine doctors

  • Orthopaedic surgeons

  • Melbourne Shoulder and Knee Surgeons

  • Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre

Practical Information

What should I bring to my first appointment?

  • Comfortable clothing you can move in

  • Any imaging results (X-rays, MRI, ultrasound)—bring or email beforehand

  • Private health insurance card if you have one

  • Relevant medical history or medication lists

  • Your questions

What's included in an initial assessment?

Your first 45-minute visit includes:

  • Comprehensive movement and injury assessment

  • Diagnosis and explanation in plain language

  • Treatment plan discussion with timeline

  • Initial hands-on treatment

  • Exercise instruction to get started

You'll leave knowing exactly what's wrong, what the plan is, and roughly how many sessions you'll need.

Do you offer home visits or mobile physiotherapy?

Not currently—all treatment happens at our Richmond clinic location.

However, we offer telehealth consultations which work surprisingly well for exercise prescription, progress checks, form analysis, and guidance.

READY TO BOOK?

No referral needed for standard consultations.
