For TAC injuries, we need a claim number on booking. With a claim number there is a GAP of $86.13 for the Initial Appointment and $47.29 for follow up appointments, which can be paid following your appointment (this is in order to pay our Physiotherapists properly for their time, as TAC does not cover the full fee)

For Workcover Injuries, individuals will need a case manager and a claim number, there is a GAP of $41.76 for the Initial Consultation, and $48.40 for follow up sessions. (This is because we give detailed 45-minute Initial sessions and 30 minutes follow up sessions)

Or individuals are welcome to pay the full amount and claim back themselves.

We accept EPC Care Plans through your GP. Please note that we have to charge our standard rates. We will then send you an invoice which you can claim back approximately $60 per session from Medicare.

Frequently Asked Questions About Booking at Evolutio
Quick Booking Questions
How do I book an appointment at Evolutio Sports Physio Richmond?
Booking with us is straightforward and you've got several options depending on your preference. The fastest way is through our online booking system which shows real-time availability across our entire team—Bayden, Ellie, Catya, Andy, Alex, Phill, Harry, and Mary Ann. It's available 24/7, so you can book at 2am in your pyjamas if that's your thing. You can also call us during business hours on 03 9100 3798, WhatsApp us at +61 430 436 531 for a callback, or even walk into our clinic at 11/3 Bromham Place, Richmond to book face-to-face.
Most of our appointment slots are available same-day or within the current week, though evening appointments (we're open until 7:30PM weekdays) and Saturday mornings tend to book up 3-4 weeks ahead since they're popular with working professionals. If you've got an urgent injury, give us a call directly and we'll do our best to squeeze you in.

How far in advance should I book my physiotherapy appointment?
Honestly, it depends on your schedule flexibility and how urgent your situation is. For standard appointments during weekday business hours, we typically have availability within 1-3 days, sometimes even same-day if you check the online booking in the morning. However, if you're after those coveted evening spots (post-work appointments until 7:30PM) or weekend sessions (Saturday 8AM-1PM), you'll want to book about 3-4 weeks ahead because they fill up fast with Melbourne's working professionals.
For acute injuries where you need to see someone urgently, don't bother with advance booking—just call us directly on 03 9100 3798 or WhatsApp +61 430 436 531. We hold emergency slots for these situations and can often fit you in the same day. And if you're already a patient with us, follow-up appointments are usually easier to schedule since we know your availability patterns.
Pro tip: if you're flexible with which practitioner you see, you'll find more availability. Each of our team members brings different specialties—some focus on running injuries, others on cycling or CrossFit—so choosing based on your specific sport or injury type works well.

Can I choose my physiotherapist when booking?
Absolutely, and we actually encourage it! When you book through our online system, you'll see the availability for each of our practitioners individually. This lets you choose based on their specialty areas and your specific needs. Bayden has ultra-marathon and endurance expertise, while other team members specialise in elite cycling, AFL, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, swimming, and triathlons.
If you're not sure who to see, here's how to decide: runners with overuse injuries often connect well with our endurance-focused physios, cyclists dealing with bike fit issues should look for our cycling specialists (and we partner with Ciclo Melbourne for advanced bike fitting), CrossFit athletes benefit from practitioners who understand Olympic lifting mechanics, desk workers with neck and shoulder pain can see any of our team since we all treat these issues regularly.
What's really important though is that once you start with a practitioner, you'll see the same person throughout your entire journey. No rotating through different physios every session, no re-explaining your injury story five times. Your practitioner gets to know your body, your goals, what type of coffee you prefer, and how you respond to treatment. For our qualifying members, you even get WhatsApp access to your specific practitioner between appointments.
Not sure who's right for you? Give us a call on 03 9100 3798 and we'll help match you with the best fit.

What types of appointments can I book?
We've got several appointment types depending on what you need:
Initial Physiotherapy Assessment (45 minutes, $175): This is your comprehensive first appointment where we properly assess your injury, understand your story, test your movement patterns, and begin treatment. Most Melbourne physio clinics only offer 30-minute initials, but we give you the full 45 because rushing through your assessment is how things get missed. Within 48 hours you'll receive a detailed email with your diagnosis, week-by-week recovery timeline, and video demonstrations of prescribed exercises.
Follow-up Treatment (30 minutes, $125): These are your ongoing treatment sessions where we continue hands-on work, progress your exercises, and track your recovery. Same practitioner every time, building on what we learned in previous sessions.
Specialized Services:
Bike Fitting Assessments through our partner brand Ciclo (pricing varies)
Remedial Massage with our physio-supervised therapists
NDIS Physiotherapy sessions ($193.99 for eligible participants)
Insurance & Government Schemes:
TAC (Transport Accident Commission) appointments - requires claim number, gap payment $86.13 initial/$47.29 follow-up
WorkCover appointments - requires case manager, gap payment $41.76 initial/$48.40 follow-up
EPC (Medicare) appointments - requires GP referral, ~$60 rebate available
DVA Gold Card - bulk billed (no cost to you)
DVA White Card - requires GP referral for specific conditions
Virtual Consultations: Available for follow-up care, exercise reviews, and initial assessments when appropriate (30-45 minutes).
Most clients pay with private health insurance through our HICAPS system, bringing out-of-pocket down to $60-90 per session depending on your level of cover. We work with all major health funds: Medibank, Bupa, HCF, NIB, and Australian Unity.
Do I need a referral to book a physiotherapy appointment?
Nope, you don't need a referral for standard private physiotherapy appointments in Australia. You can book directly online or call us and come straight in—no doctor's note required. This is one of the great things about accessing physio in Australia; you have direct access to musculoskeletal experts without jumping through hoops.
However, there are some exceptions where referrals ARE required:
WorkCover claims: Your employer or WorkSafe Victoria needs to set up your claim first, and your case manager may require a medical referral.
TAC claims: For transport accident injuries, you'll need your TAC claim number but not always a referral—check with your case manager.
EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) plans: These Medicare-subsidised sessions require a referral from your GP, who creates a Chronic Disease Management Plan for you. You get up to 5 subsidised allied health visits per calendar year.
DVA White Cards: Department of Veterans Affairs white card holders need a GP referral for physiotherapy related to their accepted conditions.
Some insurance policies: Rare, but worth checking with your health fund if they have specific referral requirements.
Even if you don't technically need a referral, having one from your GP or specialist can be helpful because it gives us additional medical context about your condition, any imaging results they've already ordered, medications you're taking that might affect treatment, or other health considerations we should know about.
Got questions about whether you need a referral for your specific situation? WhatsApp us at +61 430 436 531 and we'll clarify.

What should I bring to my first appointment?
Right, so you don't need to bring much, but having these things will make your first session more productive:
Clothing: Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that let us see and access your problem area. Shorts work well for lower body issues (knee, hip, ankle, foot problems), singlets or loose t-shirts for shoulder and neck issues, workout gear is generally perfect since you might be doing some movement testing. If you're coming straight from work in business attire, no worries—we've got changing facilities.
Documentation (if you have it):
Any recent scans, X-rays, MRIs, or ultrasounds related to your injury
Referral letters from your GP or specialist
Reports from other practitioners you've seen
For TAC claims: your claim number and case manager details
For WorkCover: claim number, case manager info, and any medical certificates
For EPC plans: your GP's referral letter
For DVA: your health card (gold or white)
Insurance Cards:
Private health insurance card (we process claims instantly through HICAPS)
Medicare card (if using EPC plan)
DVA card (if applicable)
Footwear: If you've got a lower limb or back issue, bring the shoes you typically wear for the activity that's causing problems. Runners should bring their running shoes so we can check wear patterns and potentially assess your gait on our treadmill. Cyclists might want to bring cycling shoes if it's relevant to your injury.
Questions: Write down any questions you want to ask. Seriously, when you're in pain it's easy to forget what you wanted to know, and we want to make sure you leave feeling informed and confident about your treatment plan.
Your Story: Think about how the injury happened, what makes it better or worse, how it's affecting your daily life and training, and what your goals are (getting back to running, returning to CrossFit, being pain-free at your desk job, etc.).
What you don't need to bring: medical jargon or self-diagnosis from Dr. Google. We'll figure out what's actually wrong through proper assessment. Also don't worry about waxing or shaving or any of that—we're physiotherapists, we've literally seen everything.
Our location: 11/3 Bromham Place, Richmond VIC 3121
Timing & Availability
What are your opening hours?
We've designed our hours around Melbourne's busy lifestyle, especially for professionals who can't take time off during the day:
Monday - Thursday: 8:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Sunday: Closed (even physios need recovery days)
That 7:30PM finish during the week is genuinely a game-changer for CBD workers and anyone with demanding day jobs. You can actually get here after work without the stress of racing against clinic closing times. Our early morning slots from 8AM are perfect for people who want to squeeze in treatment before heading to the office.
Saturday mornings are brilliant for those who literally cannot make weekday appointments due to work commitments. The trade-off is these weekend slots book up faster—usually 3-4 weeks ahead—so plan accordingly if that's your only option.
Located in Richmond at 11/3 Bromham Place, we're just 8 minutes walk from Richmond Station, making us accessible whether you're coming from the CBD (15 minutes), South Yarra (10 minutes), Collingwood (8 minutes), or pretty much anywhere in Melbourne thanks to Richmond's central train connections.
Check real-time availability and book now
Can I get a same-day appointment?
Yeah, often we can! We hold some spots specifically for acute injuries and urgent situations. Your best bet is to check our online booking system first thing in the morning—that's when same-day availability is most likely to appear. If you're not seeing anything suitable online, call us directly on 03 9100 3798 or WhatsApp +61 430 436 531.
When you contact us for a same-day appointment, we'll ask a few quick questions about your injury to determine urgency. Acute injuries that might need same-day attention include sudden sharp pain that's preventing normal movement, recent trauma (you've rolled your ankle, tweaked your back, pulled a muscle), significant swelling or inability to weight-bear, or sports injuries before an important event.
The reality is that weekdays during business hours (particularly mid-morning and early afternoon) are your best chance for same-day appointments. Morning slots fill up with people who booked days ago, and late afternoon/evening appointments are usually fully booked weeks in advance.
If we genuinely can't fit you in same day, we'll get you in within 24-48 hours maximum for urgent cases. In the meantime, we can provide advice over the phone about initial management—whether to ice or heat, whether to rest completely or stay gently mobile, red flags to watch for that might need emergency care.
Already a patient with us? You'll find it easier to get urgent follow-up appointments since your practitioner knows your case and can sometimes shuffle their schedule to accommodate you.
Emergency note: If you're experiencing severe pain, numbness/tingling down your arms or legs, loss of bowel/bladder control, or signs of serious injury, go to emergency rather than waiting for a physio appointment. We're good, but we're not emergency medicine doctors!
What's your cancellation policy?
We need at least 24 hours notice if you can't make your appointment. Life happens—we totally get it—but late cancellations prevent us from offering that slot to another patient who needs care. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or don't show up, you might be charged a cancellation fee.
How to cancel or reschedule:
Through our online booking system (easiest option, available 24/7)
Call us on 03 9100 3798 during business hours
WhatsApp +61 430 436 531
Email info@evolutio.com.au
We totally understand that work emergencies happen, illness occurs, or Melbourne's weather decides to throw a massive storm your way. If you've got a genuine emergency or you're unwell, just let us know as soon as you can and we'll work with you to reschedule.
The flip side: We run on time. If we're going to be running late (which is rare), we'll notify you. If you're running late, please let us know. We'll still see you, but your session might need to be shortened to ensure everyone else's appointments stay on schedule. Nobody likes the domino effect of delayed appointments.
For our membership clients, there's often more flexibility with rescheduling since you're seeing us regularly anyway and we can usually find another slot within your usual schedule.
What if I arrive late?
First, let us know you're running late by calling 03 9100 3798 or WhatsApp +61 430 436 531. We'll still see you, but here's the reality: your session might need to be shortened to ensure the next person's appointment runs on time. It's not that we're trying to be difficult—we just don't want your delay to create a ripple effect where everyone else is waiting.
Melbourne traffic is notoriously unpredictable, trains get delayed, meetings run over, life happens. We get it. If you're stuck in traffic or your tram's broken down, just communicate with us and we'll work with it as best we can.
Tips for avoiding late arrivals:
Give yourself extra time—our Richmond location is 8 minutes walk from Richmond Station
Check PTV for public transport updates before leaving
Allow 5-10 minutes for parking (we have three free spots in front, plus street parking nearby)
Book appointments with buffer time around work commitments
Set reminders—we send SMS and email reminders, but setting your own helps too
If you're consistently struggling to make appointment times due to work or other commitments, talk to us about booking at different times. Maybe early morning before work or our evening slots until 7:30PM would work better for your schedule.
Cost & Payment
How much does physiotherapy cost at Evolutio?
Here's the complete breakdown with no hidden surprises:
Standard Appointments:
Initial Assessment (45 minutes): $175
Follow-up Treatment (30 minutes): $125
Most Melbourne physio clinics charge similar rates, but many only offer 30-minute initial assessments. We give you 45 minutes because proper assessment shouldn't be rushed. Within 48 hours you'll receive a detailed email with your diagnosis, treatment plan, exercise videos, and recovery timeline—that's included in your initial fee.
Specialised Services:
NDIS Physiotherapy: $193.99 per session
Bike Fitting (via Ciclo partnership): From $250
Remedial Massage: Pricing varies
Government Schemes (gap payments required):
TAC (Transport Accident Commission): $86.13 gap initial, $47.29 follow-up
WorkCover: $41.76 gap initial, $48.40 follow-up
EPC/Medicare: ~$60 rebate per session (up to 5 per year)
DVA Gold Card: Bulk billed (no cost)
DVA White Card: May require referral, coverage depends on accepted conditions
With Private Health Insurance: This is where it gets affordable. Most of our clients pay just $60-90 out-of-pocket per session after their health fund rebate. We have HICAPS on-site, meaning we process your claim instantly—you just tap your health card, pay the gap, and you're done. No waiting weeks for reimbursements or filling out forms.
We work with all major Australian health funds: Medibank, Bupa, HCF, NIB, Australian Unity, and basically any fund with extras cover that includes physiotherapy.
Payment Methods: EFTPOS, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), and cash. We process private health insurance claims on the spot through HICAPS.
Fair question: "How many sessions will I need?" It varies massively depending on your injury. Simple muscle strains might be 2-4 sessions, while complex chronic conditions or post-surgical rehab could be 10-15 sessions over several months. We'll give you an honest estimate after your initial assessment and update you regularly as we track your progress.

Do you accept health insurance?
Absolutely! We work with all major Australian private health insurers, and this is genuinely one of the easiest parts of coming to see us. We've got HICAPS (Health Industry Claims and Payments Service) set up, which means we process your rebate on the spot. You literally just tap your health fund card, pay the gap amount, and you're done. No claim forms, no waiting weeks for reimbursements, no admin headaches.
Major health funds we work with:
Medibank and Medibank Private
Australian Unity
Teachers Health Fund
Defence Health
HBF
And basically any Australian health fund with extras cover
What you'll pay out-of-pocket: Most of our clients pay between $60-90 per session after their health insurance rebate, depending on their level of extras cover. Higher levels of cover mean smaller gaps. It's worth checking your policy to see what your physio rebate limit is—some policies have annual limits, others have per-session limits.
What you need:
Your private health insurance membership card
Photo ID (sometimes required)
Knowledge of your annual limit (if applicable)
How it works: After your session, we swipe your health card through the HICAPS terminal, it calculates your rebate based on your fund and cover level, you pay the remaining gap amount, done. The claim is submitted to your fund instantly, so it counts toward your annual limits immediately.
No health insurance? No problem. You'll pay the standard rate ($175 initial, $125 follow-up) and you're welcome to use other payment options like EPC plans through Medicare, WorkCover, TAC, or DVA schemes if you're eligible.
Pro tip: If you're considering getting private health insurance specifically for physio cover, do the math. If you're seeing a physio regularly, extras cover usually pays for itself within a few visits. The government also offers the Private Health Insurance Rebate which might reduce your premium.
Not sure about your cover? Call your health fund before your appointment or check your policy online. Questions about how we process claims? Email us at info@evolutio.com.au.
How many sessions will I need?
Ah, the question every patient asks and every physiotherapist wishes they could answer definitively in the first session. The honest truth is: it depends. But let me give you something more useful than that frustratingly vague answer.
After your initial 45-minute assessment, we'll give you a realistic estimate based on your specific injury, how long you've had it, your fitness level and body awareness, your commitment to home exercises, and your goals. Someone wanting to return to social sport has different needs than someone training for competitive events.
General timeframes (and these are rough):
Acute injuries (happened recently):
Minor muscle strains: 2-4 sessions over 2-4 weeks
Acute joint sprains: 4-8 sessions over 4-8 weeks
If you don't do anything silly in the meantime
Overuse injuries (built up gradually):
ITB syndrome, runner's knee, tendinitis: 6-12 sessions over 6-12 weeks
These are trickier because they developed over time and need systematic correction
Chronic conditions (you've had it for months/years):
Ongoing management, but you should feel significantly better within 8-16 weeks
Might need occasional "tune-up" sessions even after main treatment
Post-surgical rehabilitation:
ACL reconstruction: 20-30 sessions over 10-12 months (read our full ACL guide)
Shoulder surgery: 12-20 sessions over 3-6 months
Hip arthroscopy: 15-25 sessions over 4-8 months
Work-related issues:
Desk-related neck and shoulder pain: 4-8 sessions
Repetitive strain injuries: 6-16 sessions
What speeds up recovery:
Doing your home exercises consistently (patients who do their homework recover 2-3 times faster)
Attending sessions as recommended
Making necessary lifestyle modifications (ergonomics, training adjustments)
Being honest with us about your progress
What slows recovery:
Skipping home exercises
Continuing activities that aggravate your injury
Irregular appointment attendance
Poor sleep, high stress, or other health factors
Here's our promise: we don't drag treatment out unnecessarily. Some clinics lock you into packages of 10 sessions upfront—we don't do that. We review your progress regularly and adjust our approach. If you're not improving as expected within 4-5 sessions, we reassess, potentially order imaging, or refer to specialists if needed.
Many of our clients for simple injuries see us 3-5 times total. Complex cases might be 10-15 sessions. Post-surgical or chronic conditions could be more. We'll update your timeline throughout based on how you're actually responding.
Already know you'll need ongoing care? Ask about our membership programs for committed athletes and regular clients—they offer better value for longer-term treatment.
Questions about your specific situation? We offer free 10-minute chats via WhatsApp +61 430 436 531 where we can give you a ballpark estimate.

Location & Getting Here
Where is Evolutio located?
We're based in Richmond's converted warehouse district, which is honestly one of the coolest spots in Melbourne for a physio clinic. The address is 11/3 Bromham Place, Richmond VIC 3121, tucked away off Swan Street in an area that combines specialty coffee culture with industrial Melbourne character.
Getting here is actually pretty easy:
By Train: Richmond Station is an 8-minute walk. Most of Melbourne's train lines run through Richmond—Cranbourne/Pakenham, Frankston, Sandringham, Glen Waverley—so whether you're coming from the CBD, eastern suburbs, or pretty much anywhere, Richmond's on your line.
By Tram: Multiple tram routes service Swan Street and Bridge Road, both within easy walking distance. Check PTV for the closest stop to your starting point.
By Car: We have three free parking spots directly in front of our clinic (11/3 Bromham Place). Beyond that, there's free street parking with 2-4 hour limits on surrounding streets—more than enough time for your session. The area's generally easy to park compared to inner Melbourne standards.
By Bike: If you're one of those legends who cycles everywhere (and honestly, with Richmond's cycling culture, many of our clients are), we've got secure bike parking inside. Makes sense since we treat a lot of cyclists and some of our best patients ride to their appointments.
Travel times from around Melbourne:
Melbourne CBD: 15 minutes (train or tram)
South Yarra: 10 minutes (train's your quickest bet)
Collingwood: 8 minutes (bike or car)
Hawthorn: 12 minutes (tram down Bridge Road)
St Kilda: 20 minutes (train)
Carlton: 18 minutes (tram)
Prahran: 15 minutes (train or tram)
What you'll find when you arrive: You'll walk into a stunning 3-level converted warehouse with smooth indie tunes, the smell of good coffee, and a large wooden table we actually made ourselves from reclaimed timber. It doesn't feel like a clinical medical facility—more like a really cool Melbourne workspace that happens to have exceptional physiotherapists. Which is exactly the vibe we're going for.
Surrounding Area: Richmond is Melbourne's sports hub. You've got the Tan Track, Yarra trails, Bridge Road gyms, local AFL clubs, and boutique fitness studios all nearby. We're literally in the heart of Melbourne's active community, which is why so many runners, cyclists, and CrossFit athletes end up finding us.
Accessibility: Our building is wheelchair accessible, with appropriate bathroom facilities and parking accommodation.
Want the full local experience? Check out our dedicated Richmond physio page where we dive deeper into what makes this community special and why the location works so well for athletes and active individuals across Melbourne.
Is parking available?
Yeah, parking's available and honestly easier than you'd expect for inner Melbourne. We've got three complimentary parking spots directly in front of our clinic at 11/3 Bromham Place—these are exclusively for our clients. If those are taken (during busy times they might be), there's free street parking on Bromham Place and surrounding streets with 2-4 hour limits, which is more than enough time for any appointment.
Richmond's parking situation is nowhere near as hellish as the CBD or Chapel Street. You'll find something within a block or two, maximum. The area's industrial-warehouse vibe means it's not packed with retail traffic competing for spaces.
However, here's something cooler than parking: We have a green card program (works like a coffee loyalty card). Every time you visit our clinic using clean energy—cycling, skateboarding, walking, running, even a hoverboard if you're feeling adventurous—you get a stamp. Ten stamps = one free physio session on us. So if you can bike or walk here, you're basically earning free treatment while being environmentally responsible. Plus you're warming up your body before your session, which makes treatment more effective anyway.
For those who are one of Melbourne's many cyclists (and we treat a lot of you for bike fit issues and cycling injuries), we have secure bike racks inside the building. Your bike stays safe while you're in your session.
Accessibility parking: Available for clients who need it.
Public transport alternative: Remember, Richmond Station is just 8 minutes walk, connecting most of Melbourne's train lines. Sometimes catching the train is faster than driving and hunting for parking, especially if you're coming from the CBD or other well-connected suburbs.
Location: 11/3 Bromham Place, Richmond VIC 3121
First Visit Information
What happens during my first physio appointment?
Your initial appointment is 45 minutes of comprehensive assessment and treatment—not the rushed 30-minute affairs you might get elsewhere. Here's exactly what goes down:
Before you arrive (10-15 minutes early): You'll check in with our admin team or your physio will come down to greet you personally in our warehouse-style waiting area. It's got reclaimed wood furniture, coffee available, carefully curated indie music—think cool Melbourne cafe meets clinical excellence, not hospital waiting room anxiety.
The conversation (first 15 minutes): Your physiotherapist sits down with you properly to understand your complete story. How did this injury happen? What activities make it better or worse? How's it impacting your life—your training, your work, your sleep, your mental state? What are your goals? Whether you're a Richmond local with desk-related pain or an athlete training for the Melbourne Marathon, we need to understand how this injury fits into your life.
We're not rushing this part because understanding context is crucial for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
Physical assessment (next 20 minutes): This is where we actually examine you. Depending on your injury, we'll test strength, flexibility, movement patterns, posture, gait (how you walk/run), and perform specific tests relevant to your condition.
For runners, we might get you on the treadmill to analyze your running form. For office workers, we'll examine how prolonged sitting affects your spine and shoulders. For CrossFit athletes, we'll check squat and deadlift mechanics. For cyclists, we'll look at bike-specific movement patterns and potentially refer you to Ciclo Melbourne for advanced bike fitting if needed.
We use VALD testing equipment when appropriate to get objective strength and movement measurements—actual data you can track over time.
Diagnosis and plan (next 5-10 minutes): Your physio explains what's actually wrong in clear, human language without medical jargon overload. You'll get your diagnosis, why it happened (the root cause, not just symptoms), expected recovery timeline, treatment approach we're recommending, and what you need to do between sessions.
Immediate treatment (remaining time): Unlike many clinics that just assess and send you home with exercises, we begin hands-on treatment in your first session. This might include manual therapy, gentle mobilization, soft tissue work, dry needling, or specific exercises depending on your condition and what will help most.
After your session: Within 48 hours, you'll receive a detailed email from your physiotherapist including diagnosis summary, week-by-week recovery timeline, home exercise program with video demonstrations (because who remembers exercise instructions when they're in pain?), what to expect moving forward, and when to come back for follow-up.
What to bring: Comfortable clothing (shorts for lower body issues, singlet for shoulder/neck problems), any scans or medical reports you have, your sports shoes if relevant, private health insurance card for instant HICAPS claiming, and a list of questions you want answered.
What makes our assessments different:
45 minutes instead of industry-standard 30 minutes
Personal greeting from your physio (not shuffled through admin)
Non-clinical warehouse atmosphere with coffee and music
Treatment begins immediately, not just assessment
Clear communication about your condition
Detailed email follow-up within 48 hours
Same physiotherapist throughout your journey
You'll leave your first appointment understanding what's wrong, how long recovery will take, what you need to do, and feeling like someone actually listened to you properly instead of rushing through a checklist.

What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that let us properly see and access your injury area. The goal is for your physio to assess movement and provide hands-on treatment without your clothing getting in the way.
Lower body issues (knee, hip, ankle, foot, lower back):
Shorts or loose tracksuit pants
Leggings work fine for women
Avoid jeans or restrictive business pants
Bring runners if you have lower limb or back issues (we might assess your gait)
Upper body issues (shoulder, neck, upper back):
Singlets, tank tops, or loose t-shirts
Sports bras work well for women (we might need to assess shoulder blades and spine)
Avoid bulky jumpers or restrictive business shirts
General advice:
Workout gear is usually perfect for any appointment
Sometimes we need to assess your spine and surrounding areas even if they're not your primary complaint (your shoulder pain might be coming from your neck, your knee pain from your hip)
Layers work well—wear a t-shirt under a jumper so you can remove the jumper if needed
Coming straight from work? We've got changing facilities. Many of our Richmond clients book appointments before or after work and change on-site. Bring your workout clothes in a bag and change when you arrive. We also have bathroom facilities if you need to freshen up.
What you don't need to worry about: Waxing, shaving, or any body grooming. Seriously, we're physiotherapists—we've literally seen everything and we're focused on your injury, not your personal grooming choices.
Footwear note: For runners with running injuries, bring your actual running shoes. We'll check wear patterns and might assess your running gait on our treadmill. For cyclists with cycling issues, cycling shoes might be relevant. For general appointments, whatever comfortable footwear you normally wear is fine.
Location with changing facilities: 11/3 Bromham Place, Richmond
Communication & Follow-up
Can I contact my physiotherapist between appointments?
Yes, and we encourage communication when you have genuine questions about your recovery. Here's how it works:
Email your physiotherapist: For general exercise questions, minor concerns, or clarifications about your treatment plan, you can email your practitioner directly. They'll respond as soon as they can, typically within 24-48 hours during business days.
WhatsApp general clinic line +61 430 436 531: For booking questions, general inquiries, or quick administrative matters. Our first available physio will call you back.
Phone 03 9100 3798: During business hours for urgent matters or booking changes.
For our members: If you're part of our membership program (invitation-only after seeing us regularly), you get WhatsApp access directly to your specific physiotherapist during business hours for quick check-ins and questions. This is genuinely valuable when you're wondering if that new twinge is normal or if you should modify your training.
What's appropriate for between-session communication:
Clarification on exercise technique or dosage
Questions about whether specific activities are okay
Minor concerns about your progress
Feedback about how exercises are feeling
Scheduling questions
What needs an actual appointment:
New or worsening pain that needs re-assessment
Significant changes in your symptoms
Hands-on treatment requirements
Comprehensive exercise program updates
Anything requiring physical examination
The reality is that proper assessment and treatment requires us to see you, feel how tissues are responding, and watch how you move. Email and WhatsApp are fantastic for maintenance communication, but they don't replace face-to-face sessions.
Response expectations: We're not available 24/7 (shocking, I know). Expect responses during business hours Monday-Friday. For genuine emergencies outside our hours, you should contact emergency services or after-hours medical care, not your physio's email.

Do you send appointment reminders?
Yep, we send automatic reminders via both SMS and email. Usually you'll get a reminder 24-48 hours before your scheduled appointment, giving you enough notice to reschedule if needed (remember, we need 24 hours notice for cancellations).
Managing your appointments: Our online booking system is mobile-friendly, so you can manage your appointments from your phone anytime. You can view upcoming appointments, reschedule if needed (more than 24 hours out), or book new sessions—all from the online portal.
Why reminders matter: Let's be honest, Melbourne life is hectic. Work meetings run over, training sessions shift around, and it's easy for appointments to slip your mind. The reminders help ensure you don't accidentally miss sessions, which is better for your recovery timeline and better for our schedule management.
Set your own reminders too: Even though we send reminders, setting your own phone calendar alerts can be helpful, especially if you need to leave work early or adjust your training schedule around appointments.
Communication preferences: If you prefer not to receive SMS reminders or want to update your contact details, just let us know at info@evolutio.com.au or mention it when you're in clinic.
Special Circumstances
Do you offer virtual/telehealth consultations?
We do, though with some important caveats about what works virtually versus what needs hands-on assessment. Virtual consultations via video call work well for certain situations but definitely can't replace in-person treatment for everything.
What works well virtually:
Initial assessments for some conditions: We can see quite a lot just by watching how you move on camera. If you've got a smartphone or laptop with decent video, we can assess movement patterns, posture, and functional limitations for many injuries.
Follow-up consultations: When you don't need hands-on work and we're mainly checking in on your progress, reviewing your exercise program, or adjusting your plan.
Exercise instruction and form correction: Cameras are brilliant for this. We can watch you perform exercises and provide real-time feedback on technique, which is genuinely valuable for runners working on gait modifications or strength athletes perfecting lifting form.
Interstate or international clients: We've had patients from Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, France, and Mexico. Virtual consultations let us maintain continuity of care when you're traveling or based elsewhere but want ongoing support from a practitioner who knows your history.
Busy professionals who literally cannot get to Richmond: Sometimes work demands or travel schedules make in-person impossible, and virtual is better than nothing.
Injury prevention consultations: Movement screening, training load advice, and program reviews don't always need hands-on work.
What doesn't work virtually:
Conditions requiring manual therapy: If your injury needs hands-on joint mobilization, soft tissue work, or dry needling, virtual won't cut it.
Initial assessments for complex injuries: Some conditions need palpation, specific joint testing, and detailed physical examination that can't happen through a screen.
Acute injuries where we need to rule out serious pathology: Some assessment tests simply require being in the room with you.
What you need for virtual consultations:
Smartphone or laptop with working camera
Stable internet connection
Quiet space where you can move around a bit for assessment
Appropriate clothing (same as you'd wear in-clinic)
Virtual consultation costs: 30-45 minutes depending on what's needed. Contact us at info@evolutio.com.au for pricing and to determine if virtual is appropriate for your situation.
Our honest take: Virtual consultations are useful tools for specific circumstances, but they're complementary to in-person care rather than replacements. If you can get to our Richmond clinic, that's always going to provide better assessment and treatment. But when geography or circumstances make that impossible, virtual consultations maintain continuity and provide real value.

I'm not from Melbourne - can you still help me?
Absolutely. We've treated over 7,000 patients since 2013, including people from Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, Mexico, France, Saudi Arabia, and all over Australia. Richmond might be our home base, but sports injuries don't respect geographic boundaries.
If you're visiting Melbourne:
Book an initial assessment during your visit. We'll conduct a comprehensive evaluation, provide immediate treatment, give you a detailed exercise program with video demonstrations you can take home, and offer virtual follow-ups after you leave if needed.
Many interstate athletes or international visitors time their Melbourne trips to coincide with appointments—whether they're here for work, visiting family, or competing in events like the Melbourne Marathon or Around the Bay.
If you're based interstate or overseas:
We can do an initial virtual consultation to assess your situation and determine if we can help remotely, or recommend trusted practitioners in your area if hands-on treatment is essential. For some conditions, we can manage your injury entirely via virtual consultations combined with detailed exercise programs. For complex cases needing hands-on work, we can provide guidance until you're able to visit Melbourne, or connect you with practitioners we trust in your location.
Why people travel to see us:
Some patients have tried multiple practitioners locally without success and want a fresh perspective from our specialized sports physio approach. Others have specific injuries requiring expertise we've developed (like complex ACL rehabilitation, cycling-specific issues through our Ciclo partnership, or ultra-endurance athlete management).
Athletes competing internationally sometimes prefer maintaining continuity with practitioners who understand their sport-specific demands rather than starting fresh with new physios in different cities.
Logistics: Richmond's central location and excellent transport links make us accessible if you're flying into Melbourne. Richmond Station connects to the airport via train, and we're 15 minutes from the CBD where most hotels are located.
Start the conversation: Email us at info@evolutio.com.au or WhatsApp +61 430 436 531 to discuss your situation and whether we can help remotely or whether you should plan a Melbourne visit for in-person treatment.
