The CBD physio is in Richmond. Ten minutes away.

You work in the CBD. You train before or after. You commute by bike along the Capital City Trail, or run from the office at lunch. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, something starts to hurt. We treat that person every day.

Why CBD professionals choose us

We are not in the CBD. That is the point.

CBD physio clinics exist. They are convenient and they are fast. They are also, almost without exception, built around a 30-minute model that moves patients through quickly. You leave knowing where it hurts. You do not always leave knowing why.

We are in Richmond — a tram ride, two train stops, or a 10-minute drive from Melbourne CBD. We are ten minutes away in geography and a completely different experience in how we work. Forty-five minute initial assessments. The same physio every single time. A written plan with video exercises within 48 hours. Late evenings so you do not have to leave the office early to come.

We have been treating CBD professionals since 2013. The combination of long desk days and intensive training is one of the most consistent presentations we see. We know the injury patterns that come with it and we know how to address both sides of the equation at once.

"A diagnosis made in 10 minutes is usually missing something. We take 45 because understanding the cause matters more than identifying the location."

Evolutio, est. 2013
  • 45-minute assessments — not the 30-minute industry standard
  • Same physio every session — no rotating roster, no re-explaining
  • Written plan within 48 hours — diagnosis, timeline, video exercises
  • Open until 7:30pm weekdays — designed around CBD hours
  • HICAPS on the spot — instant private health rebates, no paperwork
  • No referral needed — book directly in under 60 seconds

What we treat

The Melbourne CBD injury pattern.

Eight hours at a desk. A run at lunch or after work. A gym session three times a week. A cycling commute on the Capital City Trail. These are not separate problems. They compound each other in specific, predictable ways that we treat every day.

01

Desk Professional Injuries

The combination of sustained desk posture and high-intensity training is the defining CBD injury pattern. Prolonged sitting affects hip mobility, thoracic rotation, breathing mechanics and core stability in ways that compound every time you train.

  • Neck pain from desk posture
  • Chronic lower back pain
  • Thoracic stiffness limiting shoulder mobility
  • Hip flexor tightness affecting running stride
  • Sciatica and nerve-related leg pain
Back pain guide
02

CBD Running Injuries

Running at lunch, running to and from the train, running the Tan after work. The Capital City Trail connects the CBD to the Yarra and beyond. Lunch runners and commuter runners develop very specific injury patterns from hard surfaces and insufficient warm-up time.

  • Patellofemoral pain (runner's knee)
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • IT band syndrome
  • Shin splints and stress reactions
Running injury guide
03

Capital City Trail Cycling

The Capital City Trail is one of Melbourne's great cycling commuter routes, running directly from the CBD along the Yarra to Richmond and beyond. Cycling commuters develop specific injury patterns from daily riding volume on top of desk work. We work with Ciclo Melbourne on complex bike fit cases.

  • Lower back pain from bike position
  • Neck and shoulder strain from posture
  • Knee tracking problems
  • Saddle-related hip and groin pain
  • Wrist and hand numbness
Cycling injury guide
04

CBD Gym & CrossFit Injuries

Melbourne City Baths, F45, CrossFit, Pilates, boutique strength studios. CBD gyms are excellent. CBD gym injuries are real. Training at high intensity on a body stiffened by eight desk hours requires specific management — not just telling you to rest.

  • Shoulder impingement and rotator cuff
  • Lower back strain from heavy lifting
  • Knee pain from lunges and squats
  • Wrist pain from Olympic lifting
  • Hip flexor and groin strains
Gym injury guide
05

ACL & Complex Rehabilitation

Post-surgical ACL rehabilitation done properly takes 10 to 12 months. We use VALD objective strength testing at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months to track progress with actual data, and to clear you for return to sport only when the data supports it.

  • Post-surgical ACL recovery
  • MCL, PCL and meniscus injuries
  • Return to sport protocols
  • VALD strength and power assessment
  • Multi-sport rehabilitation planning
ACL recovery guide
06

Shoulder & Neck Injuries

Shoulder impingement, rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder, neck pain radiating into the arm. These conditions respond extremely well to the right hands-on treatment and extremely poorly to being ignored or managed with generic exercises from a 10-minute consultation.

  • Rotator cuff tears and impingement
  • Frozen shoulder rehabilitation
  • Cervicogenic headaches
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome
  • Shoulder instability from sport

The space

Not what you expect from a physio clinic.

Walk in and you will notice it straight away. Smooth indie tunes, the smell of good coffee, a handmade timber table built from reclaimed wood. The Twisted? mural on the concrete wall by artist Pia Cressa. Plants everywhere. Original artwork throughout.

We built this deliberately. We found early on that people recover faster in spaces where they feel at ease. Not because comfort is the goal but because a patient who is not anxious about being in a clinic is a patient who communicates better, moves more freely, and engages more fully with their rehabilitation.

CBD professionals have high standards. So does this clinic. That is the alignment that keeps them coming back from Richmond rather than stopping at the closest clinic on Swanston Street.

Common questions

Things CBD patients ask before booking.

Call us on 03 9100 3798 or WhatsApp +61 430 436 531.

How do I get from Melbourne CBD to Evolutio Richmond?

+

Multiple options. By train: any Sandringham or Frankston line from Flinders Street to Richmond Station (2 stops), then 8 minutes walk down Swan Street to Bromham Place. By tram: routes 70 or 75 from Flinders Street run directly to Swan Street Richmond. By car: 10 minutes via Punt Road or Flinders Street east. By bike: the Capital City Trail connects the CBD to Richmond along the Yarra — we have secure bike storage at the clinic. By rideshare: 11/3 Bromham Place, Richmond.

Why should a CBD professional go to Richmond for physio instead of staying in the CBD?

+

CBD physio clinics are convenient. They also operate almost universally on a 30-minute model that moves people through quickly. The trade-off is depth of assessment and continuity of care. We give you 45 minutes to understand the cause rather than just identify the location. You see the same physio every time. You receive a written plan within 48 hours. We are open until 7:30pm weekdays so you do not have to leave work early. The 10-minute trip is the only inconvenience, and most CBD patients tell us it is worth it after their first session.

Do I need a referral to see a physio?

+

No referral is needed for standard appointments. Book directly online in under 60 seconds, call on 03 9100 3798, or WhatsApp. A GP referral is only required for Medicare EPC rebates or WorkCover claims.

How much does a physio appointment cost near the CBD?

+

Senior Physiotherapists (Bayden and Phill, 8 to 10 years experience): Initial Consultation $235 for 45 minutes, Follow-Up $140 for 30 minutes. Standard Physiotherapists (Kelsi and Shirouz): Initial Consultation $185 for 45 minutes, Follow-Up $130 for 30 minutes. A $85 deposit is taken at booking. HICAPS processes private health insurance rebates on the spot. See our full pricing guide.

I cycle the Capital City Trail to and from work. Can you treat cycling injuries?

+

Yes. Cycling commuter injuries are one of our specialties. The combination of daily riding volume and desk work produces specific injury patterns in the lower back, neck, knees and hips. We work closely with Ciclo Melbourne on complex bike fit cases, because sometimes the cause is in your setup rather than your body. Read about our cycling physiotherapy.

I work at a desk all day and have back pain. Can you help?

+

Desk professional back pain is one of our most common presentations. We treat the full picture: how your desk posture affects your body, how that compounds with training, and how to address both without disrupting either. A 45-minute initial assessment gives us the time to understand what is actually happening rather than applying a generic protocol. Read our lower back guide.

Can I get a same-day or early morning appointment?

+

We open at 8am and close at 7:30pm Monday to Thursday, specifically to accommodate CBD hours. For same-day acute injury appointments, call us directly on 03 9100 3798 rather than booking online and we will do our best. Early intervention consistently leads to faster recovery.

Do you treat NDIS patients near Melbourne CBD?

+

Yes. We provide NDIS physiotherapy services for eligible participants, with sessions up to 60 minutes aligned to the NDIS Price Guide. Contact us to discuss how we can support your plan goals.
